USEFUL NOTES ON PEOPLE
An SEL Book for pre-teens
Social-Emotional Learning is an important focus area for schools today. SEL is known to help with mental health, thriving communities and academic achievement among students. SEL is a new field with emerging ideas, but the content that reaches children must be clear and engaging. To this end, we're developing a set of SEL workbooks, based on the Indian Social Emotional Learning Framework developed by TTF.
Children need an implicit understanding of SEL topics. The books have thought-provoking passages of text, group activities, worksheets and journaling prompts.
Without restricting teachers' creativity, these books will aid parents, schools, NGOs and counsellors to give children space to playfully work on their social-emotional competencies.
We aim to release 3 books in English in the academic session of 2023. With the support of many collaborators and advisors, we have come far since the conception of this project in 2020.

Swati Shelar
Author
Swati Shelar is the founder of Jump Design India. She has designed several products and curricula for children. She believes in the power of active SEL to transform educational and domestic settings into wholesome and supportive environments for children. For fun (and sometimes for work), she makes fluffy crochet toys, reads fiction and plays board games.
Sohela Sajjan
Editing, Research
Sohela Sajjan has an M.A in Education from Azim Premji University. She believes SEL skills can help us build a just and an equitable world. When not thinking about changing the world, she can be found cuddling her dogs.
Asuma Noor
Illustrations
Asuma Noor is a freelance illustrator who loves to draw characters and comics. Often found smelling books, eating dark chocolate and following cats, Asuma's hobbies are to hunt for grassy sunlit patches, investigate strange flowers and spot rare birds. Trishanya Raju

Trishanya Raju is a Consultant for all things teaching and learning at The Sandbox. She received her masters degree in Education and Human Development from George Washington University, and is currently a Doctor of Education candidate at Johns Hopkins University, where she is specializing in Mind, Brain and Teaching.
Nanvi Singh Jhala

Nanvi is a curriculum designer, educator and artist. She graduated from Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, majoring in creative education.
Art has been her calling since she was 13. She believes that values incorporated using education will play a huge role in shaping young minds.

Satya Prakash is a Teach For India Fellow in New Delhi. He likes to call himself a Knowledge worker and enjoys reading, learning and teaching. He believes quality and affordable education should be accessible to all.

Samreen Rehman is a psychologist at Children First, New Delhi. Her practice focuses on enabling others to become healthy individuals, as they come with their shades of socio-emotional struggles and competencies. Outside of work, you can find her sipping chai with some R&B music and sunshine.
